Security Update

On December 9th and 10th, over 1.6 million WordPress sites were the target of a cyberattack. FoodReach.ca was one of millions, but the impact of the breach was mild. Due to our regular site updates, we had less security vulnerabilities than fellow targets. We are pleased to inform you that your account is safe and secure.

What Does This Mean?
It is difficult for us to know what information was retrieved in the breach. In theory, email addresses and mailing/shipping addresses may have been collected. However, we are certain that passwords and credit card information were not leaked, as this is encrypted data and therefore inaccessible to anyone accessing the site.

Next Steps
The site has been restored and we are confident it is safe for use. Out of an abundance of caution, we encourage you to change your account password. You can do so by following these steps:

  1. login to your account at foodreach.ca
  2. select “My Account”
  3. select “Account Overview” from the drop down menu
  4. enter your current password in the “Current Password” field
  5. enter your new password in the “New Password” field
  6. enter your new password again in the “Confirm New Password” field
  7. select “Save Changes”

As always, please practice digital safety by reporting suspicious emails, double checking the sender’s email address, and avoiding clicking on links in emails you’re unsure about.
